The Remembering Brain:

How Memory Works, and What Happens
When it Doesn't

The human brain is an astonishing 3.5 pounds of (hideously unappealing) gelatinous goop that can do the most incredible things when healthy, or betray the very ability to function when impaired. It enables us to learn remarkably complex subjects, perform the most intricate activities, create and appreciate breathtaking artistry, seek out and maintain meaningful relationships, enjoy a wide range of awesome music, and of course, remember where we last put our keys. Yet, of the more then 2,500,000 Gigabytes of data our brain can hold at any given moment, the average brain can only remember 5-7 bits of those bytes at any one time. Too much stress, not enough sleep, a relatively minor car accident, too much alcohol, certain drugs, traumatic experiences, what, when, and how much we eat, and certain diseases just to name a few, are all examples of how our old memories, and the ability to learn new ones can be impacted, temporarily or permanently. In this course, you will learn about different kinds of memory, how, when, and where in the brain they are formed, stored, and hopefully retrieved, how false memories can easily be implanted without your ever knowing it, and why you remember some things but not others. You will learn about the common as well as the more fascinating and bizarre disorders and diseases of memory, some of which seem like they came from a sci-fi flick, how to improve your own memory, and how to tell the difference between simple forgetting, and actual memory impairment. And more! This course is presented in an entertaining, educational, and multimedia format. By the time the course is over, you will have a treasure-trove of tips and tricks to improve your own memory, now and beyond. Please click below to learn more about this course or to sign up for this or the other equally intriguing brain courses (don't forget!)...
